Conservancy Burning
New Procedures for Conservancy Burning

This year, unlike in past years, the Village of Long Grove has made some significant changes in conservancy burning procedures.

An "Open Burning Permit" is now required PRIOR to the actual burning. This form, along with several other pieces of burning guideline information, is available at the Long Grove Fire Department. We, as a Board, tried to get one application for the entire subdivision but we were denied. They require EACH homeowner to go to the fire department and fill one out. It is good for 30 days, since it is difficult to predict weather conditions. These next few weeks are the best time for Spring burning (see the recent issue of THE BRIDGE for greater explanation of Springtime burning benefits).

In addition to the permit, signage is now required prior to and during the burning. This signage is also available at the Fire Department. THERE IS NO CHARGE TO APPLY FOR THE PERMIT OR FOR THE SIGNAGE.

No area may be burned without homeowner's consent and proper permit application. We do not know if fines will be applicable if the procedures are not followed, but our homeowners association does not want to take this chance. PLEASE ADHERE TO THESE NEW POLICIES. Please apply as soon as possible, so that you can be ready to participate as soon as conditions are correct.

Teamwork is encouraged in this process, since yards are often connected to one another. For those of you who are new to this process, please check with your neighbors and plan to participate jointly. It is much easier AND safer for everyone concerned.

The Long Grove Fire Dept. will be available to answer any questions you may have, or feel free to call Angie Berman (913-9903) or Sophia Hanson (913-9907). Should you be interested in heading up a burn in your area, please contact one of us and we can put this up on the BWF website. Please check our website every few days for updates and planned burns.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION!

Please Remember.....

*Obey the speed limits and keep a watch for our new drivers

*Our roads are narrow, so pass with care to prevent damaging the lawns of others.

*Have a Happy Spring! !

Do you want to spread the word on something that
may be of interest to your neighbors?

If you have a topic that you believe would be of interest to our neighbors or if you want to let everyone know that you are available to pet sit or baby sit, you can send an email with your information to webmaster@bridgewaterfarm.org.  Once reviewed by the Board, your information may be featured in the Resident's Views section of the web site.
